The Centre is part of ‘Infosys Living Labs’, a network of over a dozen established Centers globally designed to help clients accelerate innovation and leverage emerging technologies. The Centre establishes the north Karnataka city as a key technology hub for the software major, specializing in advanced digital solutions like AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, engineering services, SAP and space technology.  Software giant Infosys today announced the launch of Infosys Centre for Advanced AI, Cybersecurity, and Space Technology at its development Centre (DC) in Hubballi, in a significant boost to North Karnataka’s tech ecosystem. The Centre is part of ‘Infosys Living Labs’, a network of over a dozen established Centers globally designed to help clients accelerate innovation and leverage emerging technologies. The Centre will serve clients globally across industries, including manufacturing, financial services, retail and healthcare, the company said in a statement. Industries & Infrastructure Minister, M B Patil and IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge opened the Centre in the presence of company Executive Vice Presidents, Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar and Rajneesh Malviya. Patil asked Infosys to explore other districts in North Karnataka for expansion. “This milestone not only creates vital employment opportunities but also strengthens industry-academia collaboration, paving the way for local talent to thrive in emerging domains like AI and cybersecurity.” Kharge lauded Living Labs as a testament to North Karnataka’s emergence as a regional innovation hub.

Inclusive growth:

About 1,000 employees work out of Infosys’ Hubballi campus. “The new Living Labs is a significant step forward in our mission to deliver AI-driven digital solutions that transform industries. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and AI-first approach, this Centre will help us address key client needs, while driving innovation at scale. It also highlights our dedication to supporting regional growth and nurturing diverse local talent,” Dhareshwar said. Hubballi is an important city in the Mumbai-Karnataka region and the software giant took a series of initiatives to transform the profile of its campus here. One of the triggers was a heated discussion in the Karnataka Assembly last year after Hubballi-Dharwad West MLA, Arvind Bellad (BJP) complained that the company was not doing enough to start full-fledged operations at the 58-acre facility in his constituency. Early this year, Infosys issued about 600 placement offer letters to students of engineering colleges located in and around Dharwad District as the company planned to quickly ramp up operations at its Hubballi Centre. Infosys said it has forged strong ties with local institutions like IIT Dharwad and KLE Technological University to drive innovation and collaboration in the region. Hiring talented youth from the local colleges was one of the strategies the company adopted to scale up the staff strength. The local hiring move came on top of a transfer policy the company put out in June this year, offering an incentive package to employees working in other Centers but are open to move to Hubballi. The company had told employees in an email, last year, that the location has a huge potential for growth and “is waiting for a talent like you to build the future”. “It’s your turn to grow global and consider pursuing your career at Hubballi DC,” it said.
